Remote Control Butterfly Vibes

Catch a Butterfly

This week I am going to post about the Remote Control Butterfly Strap-On Vibrator ($39). I had a customer email me her comments about this exciting product this week.
The vibrations from the Remote Butterfly were much stronger than I anticipated. The battery life also exceeded my expectations. I wore it all afternoon, with it buzzing sometimes intermittently and sometimes for as much as a fifteen minute stretch and it didn’t die until the very end of the day. The vibrations did get weaker towards the end but could be intensified by moving the remote closer.

I don’t orgasm all that easily and I didn’t with the Remote Butterfly, but I think the playful testing atmosphere contributed to it being more of a fun experience than an erotic one. Out to a dinner or a nightclub with your SO, this would be very different and much more sexy. Renee M. Buffalo, NY
The Vibrating Butterfly Vibe is available from several different manufacturers such as Swedish Exotica Version ($75)of the butterfly is a little more expensive and the above mentioned one from PipeDreams is the best selling Butterfly Vibe. There are quite a few different style of Strap-On Clitoral Vibes available. One example is the Silicone Dragonfly ($38), this vibe has a Random Function setting this way it will always be a surprise as to what feeling you will be getting. My personal favorite is the very popular Strap-On vibrating clit pleaser is by Adam & Eve called the Hot Spot Hibiscus. This particular vibe is made to resemble a flower and can be worn like the others under panties or without. I have this vibe in my toybox for about a year and absolutely love wearing this out on the town :) These vibes come with elastic straps that you can attach to secure them to your body for some exciting fun. Another popular flower vibe is Emma's Passion Garden Exotic Flower Vibe. Stay tuned next week as we delve into the world of G-spot Vibes.

Till then,

Nikki

History of the Sex Toy.

sex toys history

A History Lesson

Finding a detailed history of human sexuality is a difficult task. Foucault's History of Sexuality makes a valiant attempt, but it goes no further than the Victorian era. Finding a detailed history of sex toys, meanwhile, is next to impossible. One thing is clear: sex toys have been around for thousands of years.

Ancient Greece

The first documented use of a dildo comes from Ancient Greece, where merchants sold something called an olisbos. Fashioned from stone, leather, or in some cases wood, the olisbos became a tool bought primarily by single women - or so the cultural evidence would have us believe. To call into question such a conclusion is only natural, as the same general impression (that dildo ownership is the domain of single women) persists today. But we now know that dildos are enjoyed by people of both sexes, from all walks of life.

"Diletto": The Delight of the Dildo

We next turn to Renaissance Italy, where olisbos became diletto, from the Italian for delight. Even with a liberal amount of olive oil as lubricant (no joke!), the diletto was not as comfortable as today's models. But as evidenced by today's booming adult toy industry, the dildo continued to evolve and grow in popularity.

Victorian Era

It was around the mid-nineteenth century when the world was first introduced to the rubber dildo. Rubber dildos of the day were much more comfortable and 'life-like' than anything introduced previously.

It was also during the Victorian Era when the world was first introduced to the vibrator. At the time, vibrators were prescribed to treat a condition known as "hysteria". This term is derived from the Greek hystera, meaning "uterus," and reflects the ancient and patently false notion that psychiatric disorders in women spring from disturbances in the uterus. At the time, women were not regarded as sexual beings, and the use of a vibrator for sexual pleasure would have been regarded as scandalous. In turn, vibrators grew in popularity by being marketed as massagers.

By the early twentieth century vibrators began to appear in early erotic cinema. Their popularity was stunted in the 1940s, when the advertisement of such products experienced a steady decline.

Today

In the last 30 years sex toys have experienced a renaissance, of sorts. Unfortunately, the seventies saw the proliferation of substandard products with a generally sexist tone to their marketing. During the eighties things began to improve thanks to a new attitude pioneered by organizations and companies like San Francisco's Good Vibrations.

The nineties saw a continuation of this trend with numerous sex-positive boutiques providing a comfortable place to shop for sex toys.

Rabbit Pearl. The Only vibrating toy you need!

Rabbit Pearl. The "die hard" vibrating toy.

The topic of today's blog is the Rabbit Pearl vibrator. Besides being a best-seller among its peers for quite a time, its appearance in an episode of Sex and the City, made it a complete champion in selling in the history of adult toys industry. Shortly after its world wide presentation on television it became the most famous and popular sex toy among ladies and it's rather easy to understand why it is so - you've got 5 different sex joys in one. How do you like that apples? So, wondering what makes Rabbit Pearl and its variations so unique and different from the other sex toys? Let's find it out together...

First of all it's a dildo. Intended as a vibrating toy, such toys as Rabbit Pearl can be used also as dildos - just keep it turned off. Its shaft is made of a soft and pliable jelly material with accurate details, making it resemble a real penis. All these features, put all together, makes it a perfect dildo toy for penetrative frictions. Don't forget to put a few drops of lubricant if you want an easy glide.

Secondly, it's of course a powerful vibrator. Just push the switch ON button and voila... what used to be a dildo, now is a vibrator. The multi-speed function will allow you to choose the tempo and rhythm you find most appropriate and enjoyable for yourself. A lower speed at the beginning is suitable for those who try a vibrating toy for the first time. After you get used to the sweet vibes, pick a speed you love most of all and enjoy it till the "happy end".

The rotating shaft. Yes, exactly, the rotating/gyrating shaft. It's quite different from vibration mode, although they go together.

Once you turn on the vibrating mode the upper part of the toy starts to rotate. This mechanism is not so common among rabbit vibrators but it gives indeed sensational results. The rotating motions start to stimulate your inner erogenous zones, like G-spot, inner vagina walls and other sensual spots you didn't have the slightest idea you had them. However, it's "head" neither gyrate nor vibrate, so, if you're used to clitoral stimulation then it's better to use its shaft for that purpose rather than its tip. The iVibe Rabbit is one of the most advanced rabbit style vibes available and most reliable with japanese motors like the Rabbit Pearl.

4th wonder - the rotating pearls. According to Sue Johanson's words, this is another exceptional feature of the Rabbit Pearl vibrator. Besides its vibrating and gyrating modes and multi-speed options, it's gifted also with a band of rotating pearls, offering some exquisite sensations. If you angle it in the proper position, the moving pearls will hit the G-spot, which is the Orgasm detonator, to make you "explode". Another way of getting the pleasure running through your veins is pressing/rubbing the revolving pearls against your clitoris or hold them just at the entrance of your vagina. Get ready for a hot ride.

It's an amazing clit tickler. Hmm... it looks nice to you but still a bit odd, due to those "bunny ears". Wonder what are they for? This is probably the most amazing and stunning part of this adult toy - ladies, and gentlemen as well, please welcome the clitoris teaser. Positioned perfectly to hit your clitoris while inserted, it has its own vibration modes which can also be adjusted just the way you like them. In combination with revolving pearls, vibrating and gyrating shaft and the nice girth it is surely to leave you speechless for quite a time, till you turn it on again.

Below is the video from Sex & the City when they discover the Rabbit Pearl Vibe in the store.

Women: Vibes and You

Different women have different responses to vibrators. Some women have their very first orgasms with the help of a vibrator. Other women report that vibrators have a numbing effect on their sex organs. And, still other women say it took them a while to learn how to have orgasms from the stimulation provided by the vibrator. Whatever type of woman you are, check out the pointers below to get the best results from your vibrator.

Use Vibrators on the Clitoris
Because of the cylindrical shape of the traditional vibrator many women have inferred that the best way to use a vibrator is by inserting it into the vagina mimicking intercourse. However, the vast majority of women orgasm through clitoral stimulation and do not reach orgasm through vaginal stimulation alone. The clitoris is located outside the vagina about an inch or two above the vaginal opening (See “A Partner’s Guide to Clitoral Stimulation” for more information.) So, vibrators work best when used on or around your clitoris.

Move that Vibrator!
Though some women prefer to simply press a vibrator against their clitoris, most women require some kind of manual movement of the vibrator as well to achieve optimal pleasure. Try moving your vibrator up and down, back and forth, or in circles on your clitoris. Some women lie on their vibrators and circle their pelvis against it. And still others grasp their vibrator between their legs and contract their thighs to provide movement. Experiment with what types of movement feel most pleasurable to you.

Orgasm is a Learned Response
Orgasm is a learned response. You can actually teach yourself new ways to be orgasmic. Because different vibrators provide different sensations, using vibrators can help expand your ability to orgasm. By patiently experimenting with a variety of sex toys you can learn how to orgasm through new types of stimulation.

You have Options
These are lucky days for us women as there are all kinds of vibrators to choose from. Some women say they only reach orgasm from plug in vibrators as plug in vibes tend to provide a more powerful pulse than battery operated versions. I suggest trying the Hitachi Wand if you’re looking for a strong vibration. Other women swear by vibrators that provide both clitoral and vaginal stimulation at the same time such as the IVIBE Rabbit . If you are a woman that gets numb from too much vibration, try a vibrator that provides intermittent sensation such as the Impulse Ultra Bullet. If one kind of vibrator doesn’t do it for you, don’t give up hope, you have a lot of options.

Vibrators and Safer Sex
Be aware that it is possible to spread viruses and bacteria associated with STDs by sharing vibrators and other sex toys. If you are sharing, cover your vibrator with a fresh condom every time a new person uses it (including yourself) to prevent disease transmission. Also remember to always clean a vibrator that has come into contact with the anus before using it in the vaginal area to avoid causing an infection. I recommend cleaning your vibrator with Befoe & After antibacterial/antiviral toy cleaner such as For-Play Ant-Bacterial Spray. Be safe and have fun.

Adapting Sex Toys for a Disability

Ideas for Mobility and Motor Control

Mobility and motor control can have an impact both on the sort of toy you can hold, but also getting the toy to touch yourself or your partner(s) where you want it. There are several things to consider in terms of mobility and motor control when choosing a toy.

First consider what you want to do with the toy.

  1. What movement do you have that you can use to manipulate a toy?
  2. Where would you want the toy to touch, and can you reach there?
  3. If you are thinking about using a vibrator, can you also press it against your body in addition to holding it?
  4. If you're interested in a dildo, can you manipulate it for penetration?

Remember, even if the answer is no too many of these questions, there are always solutions. Here are a few examples:

  • There are vibrators that can be worn on the body that you don't need to hold in place, Such as the Passion Wings to the right. Some go around the waist and sit in front of the clitoris. Others go around the penis and stimulate the penis and scrotum.
  • There are remote control vibrators that can be placed near the part of your body that you want to play with and then turned on from a remote switch. Most of these are very expensive, and are of only mediocre quality, but they are very adaptable sex toys.
  • Pillows are also helpful for positioning to play with a toy, such as the The Wedge Pillow.
  • If you can hold a toy and press it against your body but you tend to drop things as a result of spasms, there are vibrators that you can fit on your hand and some that fit just on one finger. The Grrl Toyz Secret Touch Finger Vibe is an excellent finger vibe. These toys are good you drop things a lot as you don't have to keep picking it up.

There are all sorts of inexpensive ways to start experimenting with these ideas. The least expensive way to start experimenting is to buy an inexpensive “bullet” style vibrator such as the petite Julie Ashton Style. and use it in a glove or something else you use to hold things in place. Some people put these vibrators inside sponges and wrap tape around the sponge for an easy handle.

Again, the trick is not to think that there is one right way to use sex toys.

For some people mobility means reaching is an issue. There are some toys that are light-weight but have long flexible shafts that help with reaching areas. The Bendables Style to the left is a good example. You may also be able to incorporate whatever assistive devices you use for reaching, with a sex toy.

With dildos, using harnesses greatly reduces the amount of movement required. Strap-ons such as the SportSheets one are very good beginner setups There are harnesses that allow you to attach a dildo to a bed or chair and can then play with the dildo without having to hold it. Other harnesses let you wear a dildo around your thigh, such as the Lap Dancer to the left.

Vibrators from WallBangers have suction cups and various styles available. Some of the styles even have a Rabbit style vibrator attached to a suction cup base. Usually these are not strong enough to hold the dildo to a wall, but they will keep it grounded on the floor (or a chair) and keep it standing tall.
